Using a limited palette of materials and simple unobtrusive forms, these interventions read as contemporary and distinct, while retaining the spirit and generous nature of the existing spaces of the house without being overbearing.

The orthogonal section of the kitchen is extruded outwards to the garden, the additional space formed is then enclosed in limestone, to the exterior the limestone enclosure continues to form a new garden terrace and planter. A deep teak wrap of threshold, stair and bris-soleil provides the house with a framed address to the garden and transition to the basement.

The basement cinema space, lined in lime washed oak, is enlivened by an external courtyard, large over-sliding panel and light scoop. The basement is then completed by a new series of service spaces and a wine cellar, below the external terrace. A new master suite is created by providing an en-suite and a dressing area through the insertion of a floating wardrobe and dressing table wrapped in ebony and veneered in glass.
